ABOUT PACESETTER
OUR HISTORY
We began selling these electronic "moving message" signs
while working for an electronics manufacturing company that used them
for their own trade show. An interest in the many capabilities of the
signs led us to becoming much more involved in selling them, and we
moved from just a minor dealer buying a few signs a year to a full
systems dealer and distributor for the Midwest. After over six years of
hard work and a roster of happy customers, we left on good terms, opened
the doors to Pacesetter in Aurora, Illinois, and began operations on
April 16, 1990. As sales grew, we kept acquiring space nearby to store
our inventory.
In January, 1994, larger facilities were finally a necessity! We
moved the company to St. Charles, Illinois, on the coldest day of the
year and with a -27 degree wind chill factor, and increased our space by
over 50%; however, just two and a half years later, we again needed
still more space and on May 1, 1996, we moved to our current location,
doubling our size. Early in 1998, we leased still more storage space
nearby. In 2002 the LED market began to change. Several
companies began selling displays at near-cost, hoping to make up for
the lost sales margins in volume. They didn't--they're gone
now--but their "sell at any cost" attitude negatively impacted a number
of the small, long-time committed companies dedicated to selling
and supporting LED signs, including Pacesetter In 2004,
plasma and LCD displays began to make serious inroads in the interior
signage market. While they are nowhere near as efficient
at being seen at the same distances as LED signage, their full-color,
hi-resolution graphics are appealing to the eye. This market
change and other factors made it impossible for us to continue.
In late April of 2006, we cancelled the lease on our storage space,
sold off our remaining parts (some dating back to the early 90's--which
we still repaired and supported) and signs, and moved on.
God has other exciting plans for us!
Sincerely,
